This study analyses NDCs and other national walking and cycling policies and strategies in the 197 UNFCCC countries. The report includes the ‘PATH Active Travel NDC Template’ designed to help governments in developing more effective walking and cycling policies.

More than four-fifths of ITF countries boast walking policies and 41% have a related strategy, while 45% have a cycling policy but just one in five have a cycling strategy in place says the report ‘National Policies for Walking and Cycling in ITF Countries.’ The report is the first ever combined report that analyses walking and cycling policies in the 64 ITF member countries.

Enabling a significant share of urban trips to be walkable and cyclable will provide a quick, affordable and reliable way to significantly reduce transport emissions, traffic congestion and road casualties and at the same time deliver better public health, stronger economies and fairer societies.
